On my last post, we talked about days 1 and 2 of our road trip. They were extremely busy days and I figured they deserved a post of their own to keep it nice and short.

Days 3-5 take place in Kansas City!

Day 3- Friday

The day before the wedding!

We started our day by taking the kids to Union Station to see the Model Train Exhibit. They have about 8,000 square feet of toy trains set up and its FREE to the public! There were even two sets made out of Legos! It was fun watching the kids look for random little things around the displays. If you look closely enough, you can find a few Marvel and DC characters scattered around!

Union Station has many family friendly activities to offer as well as Restaurants & Shops. If you’re ever in the area, I recommend paying them a visit! If you’d like more information on those activities, you can visit them at UnionStation.org.

For Lunch we headed across the Freight House Pedestrian Bridge to Jack Stack Barbecue!

When I tell ya’ll this restaurant was amazing, I mean AMAZING. We had a party of 8 adults and 5 kids! We didn’t even wait 10 minutes to be seated. They gave us the best service and treated us incredibly well! I can’t stress how great they were. I can go on and on but you’d have to just see fopr yourself to know what I mean ;).

I’m not a huge meat eater however. I know, I know, WHO AM I! It’s not that I don’t like meat, or hate eating it. I just don’t tend to gravitate towards it. I loooove fruits and vegetables most.. So I ordered the Southwest Chicken salad and Ben had their Burnt Ends. Both were so YUMMY!

Unfortunately, there are no pictures to show you just how amazing the food was. I tend to put all cameras away when we’re with loved ones.

We spent the rest of the afternoon at the event venue setting up for the next days wedding. It was so beautiful that I just HAD to have a mini photo shoot.

Day 4- Saturday|Wedding Day

There isn’t much I can say about this day besides, it was Beautiful.

David (Ben’s brother) and Amanda tied the knot on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at James P Davis Reception Hall. The hall is located inside Wyandotte County Lake Park and it has a cabin like feel to it.

We spent the entire night celebrating their love with the entire family.

This is where they had their ceremony. They said their vows right in front of this fireplace.

Day 5 Sunday| Last Full Day

For our last Full Day in Kansas City, we decided to venture off and explore the City. It was a very rainy, windy, and cold day so we stayed in the car for the most part.

We headed to the WWI Museum and Memorial first. I’m a sucker for museums and taking a look at our countries history any chance I get.

After the memorial, Ben insisted on hitting a grocery store for some barbecue sauce… We ended up buying 9 bottles!!! Kansas City Barbecue is by far the best I’ve ever had, so it didn’t take much convincing!

We spent that night having dinner with his family and catching up with Ben’s siblings. If you read my last post, you know its very rare for the Morgan Clan to be in the same place at once. It was a truly special night that I will cherish forever.

To Ben’s Family

I have been married to this man for over two years now. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Benjamin is the most incredible human being I’ve ever come across and after this week with you all, I finally understand why. The love you have for one another is inspirational to say the least. My Mother and Father in law did the best job raising you all!

You’ve taken me into your family with open arms and accepted me for who I am. Not once have you made me feel unwelcome. I am proud to be a Morgan and look forward to the day we bring more tiny little humans into this pack.

The last time we were all together was at our wedding. So I didn’t have the chance to get to know you all the way I did this weekend. Thank you for treating me as a true part of this family and not an outsider. I love you all and can’t wait til next time.

Day 6- Monday

Due to the long night we had before this day, we were slow to waking up. We had breakfast planned with his siblings that turned into brunch plans.

The plan was to get a quick bite to eat before hitting the road again. Of course we had to get Kansas City Barbecue one last time though!

We went to what seemed to be a normal looking gas station on the corner of 47th Street and Mission Road. I was extremely confused but went inside. There’s a friggin restaurant inside!!! Its called Joe’s Bar-B-Que and it’s apparently a Kansas City favorite! It gets a little busy but the wait was worth it! Ben ordered a Smokie Joe BBQ Sandwich and I only ordered Onion Rings. I was beginning to feel the symptoms of a Flu I’d be fighting for two entire weeks. I just didn’t know it yet. For those concerned, NO it wasn’t the COVID 19 virus.

After brunch, we sadly said our goodbyes and hit the road.

Rest of Day 6 and Day 7- Tuesday

The next couple of days were a blur. Ben is such a trooper for driving us home completely on his own. I still don’t drive BUT he took care of everything while I slept and tried not to die. The beginning of a flu is THEE worst in my opinion but he handled it like a champ. We drove 6 hours to Liberal, Kansas the first night. We had to stop because of a snow storm, and 12 hours the next day to get us home.

It was pretty brutal but we got home safe!

Battling the flu after we got home, was an entire separate battle…..
