A couple of weeks ago, Ben and I went to Kansas City Missouri to see his oldest brother get married!
We were excited, not only for the wedding, but to be able to spend time with his family. Before this trip, the last time The Morgans were all together was in June 2017 for our wedding! As you can imagine, this was a HUGE deal. Besides being able to see all his siblings in the same place, he hadn’t seen his parents since last April either!
Long story short, his family is super spread out. They either live in different states or a different country! So to make the most of this trip, we decided we were going to drive and spend as much time with them as we possibly could. While making some memories of our own along the way!
Day 1- Wednesday
We started our day by waking up extremely early! We wanted to make sure we beat traffic on our way out of town and had a destination we wanted to spend a few hours in.
Leaving the house that early was BRUTAL! So we decided to head to Dutch Bros Coffee for some much needed fuel. I got a Peach, Coconut, Passion, Black tea & Ben opted for a Midnight Rebel! If you’re fortunate enough to have a Dutch Bros Coffee near you, make sure to stop by and try these drinks! They will not dissapoint!
After 7 very long hours of driving, we arrived at our first stop!
Roswell New Mexico
If you’ve read my “Adoption Story” Post, you know why stopping at Roswell was a MUST!
We didn’t really have a plan set, so we headed to the visitor’s center first! There, we found a brochure with a map that was filled with SO many things you can do in Roswell. Half of which aren’t even Alien related! They also had a photo booth set up where you can take a photo with their crash site victims! The staff at the Visitor’s Center was very kind and walked us through all there is to do in Roswell!
We only had a couple of hours so we headed out on the town with our map in hand ready to meet my ancestors!
You’ll be surprised to find out that there really isn’t a lot of alien related activities in Roswell! They had a UFO museum and gift shop on Main Street, along with a variety of other different little gift and memorabilia shops. To be quite honest, it was pretty uneventful. It was a Wednesday afternoon though, in their defense. Either way, it was a fun stop!
For lunch we decided on Big Ds Downtown Dive. Its a small restaurant on Main Street just off Fifth Street! Ben had a Jalapeno burger with fries and I got a Chicken Tender platter with Sweet Potato fries. It was DELICIOUS! Again the staff was so kind and even gave us tips on how to re-heat our left overs in a hotel microwave! It was the coolest place! Please, do yourself a favor and try them if you’re ever in the area. They Deliver! No seriously they offer delivery! I wish I had taken more pictures! This place was photo worthy for sure!
After lunch, we didn’t have much time left. So we headed to the museums gift shop for some keepsakes! After the museum, we walked around town and got some photos. BUT we had to head back on the road….
Back on the Road!
We drove for another 5 to 6 hours until we ended up in Amarillo, Texas! It was pretty late and extremely dark, so we went straight to the hotel to get some rest. Driving in Texas was super confusing and we were ready for bed! We had a very long day ahead of us.
Day 2 – Thursday
We woke up to Snow! luckily we were only in it from the hotel lobby to the car because day 2 consisted of NOTHING but driving.
We arrived to Kansas City around 7 pm exhausted and ready to see his family!
That night, we met a new baby niece that was born in August, and a nephew who turned two in January but were unable to meet until now. They are extremely cute and I wish I could give you proof. But you’ll have to take my word for it! I will show you pretty much anything that has to do with Ben and I on this blog but we are keeping our extended family private for now. All the stories told on this blog are from my perspective and will remain stories. Visuals will not be shown to respect the privacy of those who do not choose to put their lives on social media the way Ben and I do.
With that being said, the next three days were jam packed with family time, Kansas City Barbecue, and some exploring. If you’d like to hear a little more about that, stay tuned for Part two of our Road-trip!
